Dear Kenton / Mt. Victory / Horton Customers:

When we announced the consolidation to form Heritage Cooperative one year ago, one of the most positive points of the consolidation was that Champaign Landmark and Farmers Commission had very little area where the two companies overlapped.  What this meant was that most all branches would continue to operate and serve their customers as they have in the past.  One of our goals from the start was to keep the primary point of customer contact to be at their own, local branch level.

The only area of overlap was in the agronomy business in the Mt. Victory and Kenton area.  Since Kenton had already been selected as the site to construct a new, dry fertilizer warehouse where we had the unit train, mainline rail service, we felt that eventually these two areas would be combined into one and be based out of Kenton.

We have been working toward that move since last spring and will make the transition complete on September 1, 2010.  We’d like to share with you the details of how this agronomy operation will work.

First, Lynn Smith will become the Agronomy Branch Manager of the territory.  Lynn will oversee and schedule all of the custom application for Kenton, Mt. Victory and Horton out of his office in Kenton.  He will continue to contact and service all of the customers he has worked with in the past but he will be based out of Kenton instead of Mt. Victory.  Mike Maginn will continue to oversee the warehouse, all inbound trains and all shipments out of the warehouse.  His office will stay in Kenton.

Since Mt. Victory will no longer offer dry fertilizer, we will be upgrading the dry fertilizer mixer in Horton so that customers south of Mt. Victory who use fertilizer spreaders will have the option of going to Kenton or Horton to pick up their spreaders.  Alan Herd will continue as the Grain and Agronomy Branch Manager out of his Horton office and he will continue to work with all of you that he has worked with in the past.

Bill Thornton will continue to work out of the Kenton office and spend most of his time in the country addressing the needs of not only the customers he has worked with in the past but he will be expanding his reach to serve some additional customers.

We will continue to have seed, anhydrous ammonia, liquid fertilizer and some chemicals out of Mt. Victory but it will operate more as a “seasonal branch” and will be staffed during the busy season each year.

If you have any questions about this change, feel free to contact any of the personnel involved in this change or you can contact any one of us directly in the West Mansfield office.

Thank you,
